MOJÁCAR HOSTS 1ST CREATIVE LITERARY PUBLICATIONS CONFERENCE
Mojácar is set to host the First Creative Literary Publications Conference on September 22 and 23 at the Town’s Parador Hotel, which will bring together a wide range of participants representing the writing world such as authors, members of professional writing and editing associations, as well as academics from a number of Andalucian universities. Among those on the guest list are; Winners of National and Andalucian Literature and Critics Awards, the 2017 Loewe Poetry Award Winner, the President of the Andalucian Association of Critics and Writers and, the Director of the Andalucian Arts Centre.
This first high level gathering of important participants, has been organized by the Mojácar based association "Acción Cultural del Levante Almeriense", in collaboration with Mojácar Council, the Parador Nacional de Turismo, Complejo Maraú, Ibercaja and Sorbas Canyons Golf Resort, with sponsorship from Francisco Martinez-Cosentino, José Antonio Flores and Mariano Viudez.
During the weekend, the speakers will discuss, from a variety of viewpoints, issues related to the difficulties encountered in the region’s literary writing and publishing.
The first Working Session will take place on Friday September 22 at 6.30 pm, in the Parador hotel’s Conference Hall, where opinions on professional problems can be shared, followed by a debate at 8:30 pm.
Saturday’s Working Session will start at 11.00 a.m. in the morning, with an academic perspective on contemporary literature and publishing followed at 12.15 a.m. by a presentation on the problematic state of the literary world faced by Andalucían writers. Later, representatives from the publishing houses will discuss the current situation of the Andalucía publishing industry.
The ‘Primeros Encuentros Literarios’ will close at 4.30 p.m. with an open debate for all participants, with the drawing up of a summary document with agreed and binding proposals.
All sessions are open to the public, as non-participants, free of charge.
