The young Benjamín and Alevín students from Mojácar’s Football School recently took part in the ‘Festival de Futbol Base’, held in Torremolinos.

For the 22 junior athletes who travelled with their parents, instructors and coaches, it was a weekend full of activities that brought children from all over Andalucía together to play enjoy football and have some fun away from their usual environment.

The sporting event is organized by the Royal Spanish Football Federation of Andalucía through CEDIFA, with Mojácar Council providing transport and assisting with accommodation.

The Mojácar teams played two matches each, displaying good game skills and achieving a very good position in general.  The town’s Sports Councillor, Ana García, expressed how important this type of gathering is saying, "it is a great experience as they enjoy the game as much as they enjoy playing and getting together with other players of their age throughout Andalucía."

Mojácar, as a town, is a big follower of football and, there are 150 children currently training that will move over in the future to the older teams.  Teams in all the categories participate in the provincial and regional leagues and, the youngest ones in the Municipal School are 4 years old, training every week with the same enthusiasm and love for the game. There are a number of girls in the ranks too, who according to their coaches, have a very good level of football.

Mojácar Sports Department collaborates with all the activities organized by the Andalucían Football Centre for Studies, Development and Research, CEDIFA, which is the technical body of the Andalucían Football Federation, as well as other 170 municipalities spread throughout the region.
