Mojácar Music School students perform Piano Concert

No vigente.

Ten young pianists, from 8 to 15 years old, performed a medley of well-known pieces ranging from Brahms' Cradle Song to soundtracks from famous films such as Titanic and Forest Gump.

For the last two years, these students have performed twice annually, to celebrate the day of Santa Cecilia, the patron saint of music, as well as at Easter time.  Both events have become very popular and, eagerly awaited by Mojácar’s residents, who appreciate good music of all kinds.

Concert direction was in the hands of the students’ piano teacher, Yolanda Parra Niederhauser, who also performed "Corazón de Niño" by Raúl di Blasio.  Over the last 14 years, Yolanda has taught the preliminary music classes to the youngest pupils between 3 and 7 years of age, as well as being the piano teacher at the Municipal Music School.

35 students are currently attending the School’s piano classes and the standard they can reach by practising one of the most complete musical instruments is endless.  It could simply be for pleasure or, to go on to higher studies with a thoughts of a career and, at present, a number of students are preparing for Intermediate exams that will be sat at the Cuevas del Almanzora Conservatory.

Although all music and piano classes at the Municipal School officially begin at the start of the school year, anyone can join at any time.
No matter the level of skill or age, it is never too late to enter the world of music, which is known to improve the all round well-being and potential
of both children and adults.
