The Almería Provincial Council has carried out an important project to improve road safety in Mojácar municipality while improving access to the Health Centre and the bus interchange via the AL-6111 road.

The Provincial Council President, Javier A. García, and the Mayor of Mojácar, Francisco García, visited this important project, which consists of the construction of a roundabout that is already open to road traffic, and which had a budget of 350,000 euros, 100% financed by the Almería Provincial Council.

Specifically, the Provincial Council President explained that the “construction of this roundabout represents a great step forward for the structuring of Mojácar while improving road safety in the municipality and allowing pedestrian access to the Health Centre esplanades, as well as the Mojácar Interchange, hence offering better services to residents.”

“I want to congratulate the mayor of the municipality for the great work he is doing to facilitate and improve the services made available to its residents. The Almería Provincial Council continues with the firm objective of improving every kilometre of provincial roads to offer a better service to all the people of Almería regardless of where they decide to live”, explained Javier A. García.

Finally, the Almería Provincial Council President highlighted the importance of these actions financed by the Provincial Institution, as “they are an important tool for equalising opportunities and maintaining the population, in addition to improving the services and quality of life of each of the people of Almería”.

The Mojácar Mayor expressed his satisfaction with the new roundabout, affirming that “this roundabout, located at the bus interchange and next to the future medical centre, is a key work for improving mobility and safety in our locality. Its strategic location will allow more fluid and safer access for residents and tourists heading to the most popular areas of Mojácar”.

Francisco García underlined the importance of this work in the context of Mojácar's growth, saying that “we know that the connection between the beach and the village is crucial, and with this roundabout we are responding to that need, improving circulation and making access easier to key services, such as the future medical centre, which will also be a fundamental pillar for our municipality”.

The Mayor took the opportunity to thank the Almería Provincial Council for its essential support in carrying out this project. According to the Mayor, without the collaboration of the Provincial Council this progress would not have been possible. In his opinion, the new roundabout “will significantly improve the quality of life in Mojácar and offer visitors a more comfortable and safer experience.”

The project become necessary due to the launch of these two public facilities given that the road is one of the busiest because it connects the village with the Mojácar coastal front. Without a roundabout, the exit of vehicles from these two areas is very complex due to the high traffic flow and even dangerous. Hence with this action vehicle traffic and the safety of this road have been improved.

The planned access for vehicles consists of a roundabout with three exits and entrances that connect the Health Centre esplanades and the Interchange with the AL-6111 road. In addition, by extending the existing pavements, pedestrian access to the health centre and interchange esplanades is achieved In addition, another access to the health centre by steps has been planned.

As an improvement, a section of pavement is planned on the right side of the AL-6111 road, to connect via an accessible route with the so-called Camino del Descargador, which gives access to new developable areas of the municipality. These new urban areas will be connected to the health centre, the interchange and the pedestrian route that connects the urban centre of the village with the beach via this pavement.
