This Saturday 21st of September, Mojácar will experience one of its most magical nights with the much-anticipated celebration of the Night of the Candles. From 8pm the municipality’s old town will be transformed into an impressive spectacle, lit up by more than 7,000 candles that will create a dreamlike and romantic atmosphere.
The musical offering will be one of the great attractions of the night. Various groups and artists will fill the air with live melodies ranging from jazz to traditional Andalucian music. The performances will be spread around different parts of the village in the open air, allowing visitors to move from one place to another and discover new sounds as they explore the illuminated streets of Mojácar.
The energy of the batucada will also be a prominent part of the Night of the Candles, adding rhythm and fire spectacle to the evening. Percussion groups will parade through the streets, inviting everyone there to dance and enjoy their music. This performance promises to be a highlight of the evening, adding a dose of joy to the event.
For lovers of the night sky and astronomy, Mojácar will also offer an exceptional astronomical tourism experience. Astronomy experts will be at the Castle Viewpoint, to guide visitors in stargazing.
The gastronomic offer of the Night of the Candles will be another of the night’s great attractions. A selection of food trucks will be available to offer a variety of culinary options, from national food to international dishes.
The Mayor of Mojácar, Fran García, points out: "The Night of the Candles is one of our most treasured festivities and has been consolidated in recent years as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Spain. It is a night to show the beauty of our municipality with unique illumination. This year, we have incorporated new experiences so that both our residents and visitors can enjoy an even more magical and surprising celebration."
The Tourism Councillor, María Gracia Alarcón, highlighted that: "The Night of the Candles is another example of the residents of Mojácar demonstrating the beauty of their municipality to all visitors. They have been working for days to prepare every last detail and surprise all visitors. I invite everyone to join us and enjoy an unforgettable experience."
Given the special nature of the event and the expected increase in the number of visitors, the use of urban transport is recommended to access the municipality. To facilitate mobility, the urban bus service has been reinforced for this occasion and will be operational from 6pm. The last bus back from the village will leave at 2.45am. Return tickets are already available for advance purchase at various points in the municipality, which will allow those attending to plan their visit in advance and enjoy the event without concerns.
