Mojácar locals Felipe Kirsch and José González are currently competing in the Chatarras Raid charity rally, a road trip combining adventure, motorsports, and solidarity. Before setting off, the two drivers received a visit from the Mayor of Mojácar, Francisco García, and the Sports Councillor, Jesús Montoya, who wished them luck on this new adventure.

During this pre-rally visit, the Mayor and the councillor presented the participants with an official memento from Mojácar, a symbol of the municipality's support for this initiative. The gesture is aimed at ensuring that Felipe and José carry the name and spirit of Mojácar with them throughout the event, as well as highlighting the connection between sport, adventure, and solidarity that this action represents.

The Chatarras Raid organisation defines the event as “adventure, fun, and also soliRALLYdad (solidRALLYity).” In this edition, teams of vehicles which are more than 15 years old will take on a route of more than 3,000 kilometres in Morocco, crossing deserts and tracks in a non-competitive challenge where what is essential is arriving, helping others, and enjoying.

The Mayor Francisco García dedicated some words to the young drivers in the name of Mojácar municipality: “Mojácar Council is filled with pride that two of our residents are representing our municipality in an event of this magnitude, which goes beyond sport and motorsports: it is about social commitment, solidarity, and projecting the name of Mojácar beyond our borders.” He added that “sport has the ability to convey such important values as effort, cooperation, and self-improvement; we see in this initiative a perfect combination of them all.

For his part, the Sports Councillor, Jesús Montoya, highlighted that “these kinds of sporting challenges are much more than just a journey by car: they are a school of life. Participants face difficult conditions, must trust their teammates, support each other, and ultimately, reach the finish line with satisfaction. Sport teaches us that the value lies in taking part and giving our best.” Montoya stressed that Mojácar is firmly committed to promoting sport as a means of personal and municipal development.

Felipe and José explained that they are taking on the challenge “with enthusiasm, responsibility, and a desire to make the experience memorable.” They declared that “we carry the name of Mojácar with us, and we want this adventure to have a dual purpose: personal growth and helping those who await us on the other side of the Mediterranean.” Both expressed their gratitude for the institutional support of the Local Council and assured that they will keep the citizens of Mojácar informed throughout the journey.
