On the occasion of the day of the patron saint of Mojácar and of its Local Police, Our Lady of the Rosary, this week the municipality celebrated an emotional tribute to the security forces which look after the well-being of the municipality. This day has acquired a special significance following the recent approval in the municipal plenary session of the 26th of September, which designated Our Lady of the Rosary as the official Patron Saint of the Mojácar Local Police.

The event, which took place in the Multi-Uses Centre, was attended by the Mojácar Local Police, the Levante Almeriense Fire Fighters and the Civil Guard, in recognition of their unwavering work in the safety of the municipality.

Among the highlights of the event was the presence of José Antonio García Alcaina, Almería Provincial Council Vice-President, who joined the local authorities to honour the service and sacrifice of the security forces. During the ceremony, the Mojácar Mayor, Fran García, highlighted the joint work of the security forces to guarantee the protection and peace of mind of residents and tourists. “The dedication of our Local Police, made up of 23 active officers, together with the efforts of the firefighters and the Civil Guard, is essential to keep Mojácar a safe and prosperous place. Today is a day to recognise their tireless work and honour their commitment to the community," the Mayor stated.

Our Lady of the Rosary has been officially named Patron Saint of the Mojácar Local Police, a fact that was approved by a majority in the last municipal plenary session. The aim is to give a day of celebration to the officers, highlighting their work in the safety of the municipality and recognising their effort and dedication.

The celebrations in honour of Our Lady of the Rosary will continue this weekend with several notable activities. On Saturday 12th of October there will be the traditional lunch for senior citizens, which will be attended by more than 160 people. This event will include games, dances and entertainment specially organised for the municipality’s elderly.

On Sunday 13th of October, at 9.30am, there will be the XXXIX Mojácar Popular Race, a sporting event that will bring together runners of all ages. In the evening, at 6pm, the traditional ribbon race for married women will take place at the Fountain, one of the municipality’s most emblematic places to hold events in honour of the patron saint of Mojácar.
