Mojácar, 29th of May 2025 - Mojácar Council has once again demonstrated its commitment to responsible management, sustainability and the continuous improvement of municipal services during the ordinary plenary session held today, which dealt with various issues of interest to residents and visitors.

One of the standout points was the presentation and approval of the Economic-Financial Plan, which resulted from the implementation of the Fiscal Rules imposed by the Finance Ministry and which had been on hold since 2020. Despite having solidity and financial liquidity, the Council has adopted this requirement derived from a central government decision as a matter of course.

"We are obliged to adhere to this plan despite our good financial situation. We are a council with exemplary management, which duly meets its obligations and guarantees financial stability, something that not all municipalities can say," stressed the Mayor, Francisco García Cerdá.

Another of the matters addressed was the continuation of the improvements to the Perulejo beach, one of the areas with the greatest scenic and tourist value in the municipality. The plenary session once again raised the need to provide this area with more services and facilities, and it expressly acknowledged and expressed gratitude for the work carried out by the Government team to achieve concrete progress towards this goal, benefitting both residents and visitors to Mojácar.

During the plenary session, the Socialist Municipal Group (PSOE) presented a motion requesting the adaptation of municipal public car parks to current regulations regarding charging points for electric vehicles. However, this proposal is already part of the Sustainable Tourism Destination Plan, drawn up and approved by the Government team, and which was rejected at the time by the socialist group.

The Mojácar Mayor, Francisco García Cerdá, responded clearly to the motion, clarifying that "this Local Council already provides for this action within the aforementioned plan, the implementation of which is scheduled for between June 2025 and May 2026." García Cerdá regretted that PSOE "presents motions without first being informed of ongoing actions or the content of municipal strategic plans."

During the debate, the Mayor stated: “I appreciate that you have not read the motion as it was received through the entry registry. I understand that you personally do not agree with those words, but attempting to discredit the local government team by linking it to alleged personal or family interests, using falsehoods and lies, is not the way forward. This Local Council already includes these actions in the Sustainability Plan, which you, the PSOE, voted against. I recommend that before presenting a motion, you first study what this council is already implementing.”

In addition, García Cerdá stressed that the Government team is going beyond that proposed by the opposition: “You are proposing comparing more competitive rates for charging points. We are already working on a comprehensive market study, not only to optimise electric charging rates in public car parks, but also to reduce the cost of the electricity supply for the whole municipality.”
