MOJÁCAR COUNCIL SCRAPS ROAD TAX FOR VINTAGE VEHICLES AND SETS A LOWER RATE FOR THE SO CALLED “GARAGE” VADO TAX
At their last regular meeting, Mojácar Town Council approved, among other things, the modification of the tax ordinance regulating the fee for vehicles to cross the pavement to enter properties and reservation of the public thoroughfare for exclusive parking and loading or unloading of goods of any kind.
In compliance with the rules of the Reguladora de las Haciendas Locales, Mojácar has set the rate for the Vado tax for the town. They took into account the rates charged in neighbouring towns for private or special use of the local public domain as well as a technical-economic study of the cost of services and administrative activities.
Only owners of dwellings, commercial premises and communities of owners who want unhindered access to vehicle entrances at all times have an obligation to pay the tax.
The level of tax due varies according to the width of the entrance in use, the number of parking spaces or, the number of reserved hours a day in the case of spaces for loading and unloading of goods.
For garages or parking areas with a capacity of 1 to 3 vehicles and a three metre road frontage, the annual fee is set at 80 Euros. In cases where the frontage is less than 3 metres, a proportion will be calculated. In cases where the capacity is for more than three cars, the amount would be as above, plus 10 Euros per year for each additional vehicle space.
In the same plenary session, the council also approved the modification of the fiscal rule regulating the road tax on historic or vintage motor vehicles (twenty-five years or older), which are now exempt from this tax.
