Vigente.
Last week Mojácar Pueblo experienced an afternoon full of emotion and Christmas spirit with the visit of the senior citizens from the Jardín Mojácar Residence, who went round the illuminated streets to enjoy the municipality’s festive atmosphere.
There for the activity were the Mayor of Mojácar, Francisco García, members of the government team, as well as family members and volunteers, who accompanied the residents throughout the whole stroll, sharing with then company, support and many wonderful moments.
During the visit the senior citizens were able to enjoy typical Christmas songs, performed by a group of Mojácar locals who keep the tradition alive of the Aguinaldo (local Christmas carol singing), one of the municipality’s best loved cultural expressions.
The Mayor Francisco García highlighted the importance of this get-together to reinforce the link with the senior citizens: “It is a matter of pride for us to receive our senior citizens in the heart of Mojácar Pueblo and to share with them the magic of this time of year. Their presence reminds us of the value of coexistence, tradition and family. Thanks to the residence staff, the family members and the volunteers for making such a special day possible.”
García added: “We will continue supporting initiatives which bring out senior citizens closer to the life of the municipality, and which allow us to enjoy times like this, which are so important for their wellbeing and for ours as a community.”
The visit ended with music, smiles and a festive atmosphere which residents and visitors shared together with the senior citizens, the indisputable stars of this fun Christmas gathering.
